There is good snorkeling directly in front of the hotel. A range of colourful fish call Stevensons home, especially in the coral crevices which can been seen when swimming out over the reef and guests often comment on regular turtle sightings. Heading further west, approx 500 metres, further around the coast is a bay which also has great snorkelling. Check at reception for directions.
Stevensons beach comprises of thick white sand interspersed with fresh water springs sourced from the lava tubes in the volcanic hinterland, this created fresh cold water amongst the warmer sea temperatures. The lagoon is ideal for swimming at high tide and for the young family a low tide where you are fully protected by the reef.
Kayaks are available but these can only be used at high tide as low tide will damage the craft on the coral.
Please enquire at reception.
